What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Registration

We collect information about you during the checkout process if you are signing up for an in-person seminar, an online webinar or an on-demand recorded class.

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and other optional information such as your job title and place of employment. We use this information to:

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including questions or complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

We generally keep records of all registrations through the site indefinitely for our internal record-keeping. This includes your name, email address and the courses you registered for.

Blog comments

When visitors leave comments on the blog we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. See the Gravatar service privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

Submissions through our contact form are sent to us by email, but not stored for any length of time.

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, website Administrators can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, and when it was purchased, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and employment information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

What we share with others

We share information with third parties who help us provide our orders and store services to you; for example:

  • PAYMENTS: We use a third party service called Stripe to process credit card payments for us. We do not store any of your credit card information, but your name and payment information is passed along to Stripe so they can process payment. If you have questions about that data, you may access Stripe’s privacy policy.
  • EMAIL MARKETING: If you choose to join our mailing list, we pass your name and email address along to a third party, MailChimp, which we use to manage our newsletters and other mailings. If you register for a class or webinar your name is also added to the MailChimp list so we can easily contact the attendees of that class if we need to. See MailChimp’s privacy policy.
  • TRANSACTIONAL EMAIL: Transactional email for registrations, is handled by a service called Mailgun. You may visit Mailgun’s privacy policy.
